GlobalCynex Will Pay $1.68 Million In Back Wages to H-1B Workers

GlobalCynex Inc ., an information technology company has agreed to pay $1,683,584 in back wages to 343 foreign workers with H-1B visas after an investigation by the Labor Department's Wage and Hour Division revealed that the company failed to pay them the prevailing wage from March 2005 through March 2007, the agency announced Oct. 30.
The majority workers were Indians and worked in the company's Virginia office, with others assigned to offices throughout the country. Investigators also found that GlobalCynex charged new H-1B workers illegal training fees ranging from $1,000 to $2,500.
