Rule is effective from February 2, 2009
In my previous post we had discussed about the New I-9 Interim rule.
The purpose of this rule is to improve the integrity of the employment verification process so that individuals who are unauthorized to work are prevented from obtaining employment in the United States. A copy of the amended Form I-9 reflecting these and other form-related changes is being published as an attachment to this rule.
As said the current I-9 will not be acceptable 45 days from the date of publication of the pending rule in the federal register.
The rule is published in Federal Register / Vol. 73, No. 243 / Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Therefore the rule is effective from February 2, 2009."
